Role overview

As a Cryogenic and Quantum Devices R&D Engineer at SemiQon, you will contribute to the development, measurement, and optimization of cryogenic electro-thermal and quantum devices. In this role, you will plan and perform low-temperature electrical measurements, analyze device data, and use modeling and design work to guide experimental development. You will work closely with researchers, engineers, and the fabrication team to connect device concepts, fabrication processes, measurement feedback, and performance improvements.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform cryogenic electrical measurements of electro-thermal and quantum devices
  • Model and design devices to guide experiments and support performance optimization
  • Plan and execute experiments in collaboration with the R&D and fabrication teams
  • Analyze measurement data and communicate findings to guide device and process improvements
  • Work closely with the fabrication team to connect device design, process development, and measurement feedback

Qualifications

Must have

  • Ph.D. degree, or equivalent experience, in physics, electrical engineering, nanotechnology, semiconductor devices, quantum technology or a related field
  • Hands-on experience with electronic transport measurements
  • Hands-on experience with cryogenic experimental setups, especially in the sub-1 K temperature range
  • Strong understanding of solid-state physics, electrical transport, and device physics

Additional assets

  • Understanding of component fabrication, with hands-on fabrication experience considered a strong advantage
  • Experience in modeling, simulation, or theoretical analysis of semiconductor, thermal, electro-thermal, or quantum devices
  • Experience in characterizing electro-thermal devices, such as Peltier devices or NIS-junction-based components
  • Experience with custom thermometry, such as on-chip thermometry
